VJ’s 90th birthday celebrations at VYC

A photo of former Commodores Ian Bell (VYC) and Rob Lowndes (MHASC) at the 90th Anniversary celebration of the VJ class aptly held at Vaucluse YC on 11 December, 2021.
Rob (who sailed VJ’s), Diane Sissingh and Graham Jennings represented MHASC at this terrific event which featured rigged VJ’s and a load of historic memorabilia right back to the 1930’s.
MHASC was founded as the Middle Harbour VJ Sailing Club (MHVJSC) in 1949 by avid VJ sailors Barry Wilson and Brian Baker from the nearby MH16’SC. VJ’s were hugely popular and the membership of VJ club’s flourished throughout NSW, Victoria and WA.
Congratulations to VYC on a great event and MHASC remains proud of their long association with VYC. Both clubs boast excellent Laser dinghy fleets today.
