NSW Race Official of the Year – 17 September 22
Robert LowndesMHASC member and ILCA World Council Vice President, Hugh Leicester, receive the NSW/ACT Australian Sailing ‘Official of the Year Award’ at RANSA in Sydney on Sunday. Congratulations to Hugh who was World Sailing’s Course Representative at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics for Laser (ILCA) sailing dinghies.
Hugh is an International Race Officer and has been officiating at World Laser Championships since 2001.
Hugh started sailing at Dobroyd Aquatic Club in Sabots and moved up through various dinghy classes to buy his first Laser in 1984. He now races with our club while helping with race management at Manly 16’s. But much of his year is now dedicated to overseas World ILCA Championship events, all on a voluntary basis.
Good onya Hughie – and all the best for Australian Sailing’s National Awards in December!
